ABOUT US

Freedom Outboard started in 2018 with one question – could we build an outboard with its own self-contained cooling system? Something that runs shallow like a mud motor but keeps the speed, efficiency, and quiet of a modern four-stroke? We chased that question hard. Early prototypes wore radiators on the cowling and caged cooling coils off the foot. Some ideas stuck, some didn’t. But each test taught us something new.
Our proving grounds were unforgiving. In upstate New York we plowed through weed-choked channels, soft lake mud, and the narrow cuts that connect the Great Lakes to their canals and rivers. As word spread, boat builders and captains along the east coast and Gulf Coasts joined in. We took prototypes to the Florida flats, Louisiana marshes, Arkansas flooded timber, and the hard-bottom rivers in the Midwest. The goal was to find places that tested the limits of our designs where folks would use Freedom most.
Iteration became momentum. Years of field testing and redesign led to patents on the closed-loop cooling system you see in today’s Freedom Outboard. A fully functioning outboard that lets operators push the limits of traditional outboards. The results speak for themselves: Freedom motors are running in the cold environments of the north country, the heat of the south, and as far west as Texas.
We’re not done. Building on our Tohatsu-based platform, we’re expanding the lineup. Freedom will soon launch the 25 – 30 HP model next and continue advancement on the 75-150HP Freedom motors. The mission hasn’t changed since day one: rugged performance, smart engineering, and real-world reliability. No flushing, no winterizing, this is the new feeling of Freedom!
